With a heritage that spans generations, they have been passionately dedicated to the art of sea sponge harvesting that dates back to the 17th century. Combining traditional handpicking practices with a deep respect for the Adriatic Sea, “Obrt Koralj” carefully selects the finest natural sea sponges to offer to you. This Dutch webshop is also operated by a family member and sells products directly produced from “Obrt Koralj” without an intermediary.

The sponge we use is their habitat grown over the years, similar to the corals.  While they do not have a central nervous system or the ability to feel pain, their classification as animals means that their product use conflicts with vegan principles, which avoid using animal-derived materials.
